We are currently hiring for a part-time Regulatory Compliance Quality Specialist position that would be based out of our Belleville, IL office.
Summary of the Regulatory Compliance Quality Specialist Position:
- Position Summary: While reporting to the Regulatory Compliance Quality Manager, the Regulatory Compliance Quality Specialist pro-actively promotes clinical competencies to assure positive patient outcomes by conducting regulatory compliance audits and reviews/analyzes data and documentation on the delivery of care in relationship to the patient. Assists with performance improvement projects as needed to improve all services within the organization. Identifies performance deficiencies and offers suggestions on educational needs to Quality Development. Performs duties associated with the Hospice Quality Reporting Program (HQRP) in a timely manner to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Part-Time Hourly Non-Exempt Position. 24 Hours Weekly/48 Hours Bi-Weekly. Monday-Friday, 24 hours weekly. There is flexibility to how those 24 hours are assigned. One requirement is that the individual be willing to modify their work week to accommodate departmental needs.
Position Requirements
- Education
- Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse preferred.
- Two (2) years of experience in a healthcare organization required.
- Prior experience in data collection and analysis, data organization using Microsoft Excel, and quality measure maintenance processes.
- Experience
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in a community health related field, home health and/or hospice setting required.
- Quality/Risk Management experience preferred.
- Other Qualifications
- Working knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid hospice regulations preferred.
- Knowledge of Quality Assessment Performance Improvement (QAPI) preferred.
- Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to problem solve.
- Possesses sound organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and proficient with follow-up procedures.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to navigate Suncoast Solutions preferred.
- Ability to adjust to changing demands throughout the workday.
- Education
Physical Requirements: Performs repetitive tasks. Does sedentary work: prolonged periods of sitting and exerts up to 10 lbs. force occasionally. Hears alarm/telephone/tape recorder. This position requires clarity of vision >20 inches and <20 feet. Requires physical flexibility of bending at knee and squat-bend flexibility. The Regulatory Compliance Quality Specialist manages stress appropriately, makes decisions under pressure, handles multiple priorities, works alone, and manages anger/fear/hostility/violence of others appropriately.
Working Conditions: The Regulatory Compliance Quality Specialist spends approximately 80% of his/her time in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposure to excessive humidity and noise. The remaining 20% of his/her time is spent in an automobile, patient home, or facility, which may or may not have heat/air conditioning. The position has potential for exposure to malodorous, infectious body fluids from patients, animal pet hair, allergens in the home environment, some exposure to noxious smells from cleaning agents, exposure to communicable diseases and traffic.
Essential Functions of the Regulatory Compliance Quality Specialist Position
- Is knowledgeable of and supports the mission, core values, policies, and standards of performance of Hospice of Southern Illinois.
- Supports Regulatory Compliance Director and Quality Manager as needed.
- Assists Regulatory Compliance Director with maintaining contract files.
- Evaluates integrity of patient records during the course of daily responsibilities and reports challenges and resolution to Regulatory Compliance Quality Manager.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of patient and employee information.
- Demonstrates the ability to research compliance topics.
- Performs duties associated with HQRP in a timely manner; including, but not limited to, data submission, data retrieval, data analysis, and training employees on HQRP requirements.
- Analyzes results of external surveys (CAHPS Hospice Survey and EGSS) and processes each survey according to assessed needs.
- Completes scheduled and special audits and makes recommendations for improvement.
- Disseminates results of audits, routine surveillance and analysis of data for use by the Regulatory Compliance Quality Manager.
- Supports data collection and submission required for Quality Assessment Performance Improvement.
- Monitors and maintains quality improvement documents.
- In collaboration with Regulatory Compliance Quality Manager, assists with the development and revision of policies and standards of performance according to current practices.
