Part-Time Regional Public Health Specialist
Job Description
The City of Worcester seeks qualified applicants for the position of Regional Public Health Specialist for the Division of Public Health. Under the direction of the Director of Public Health, the position will work independently throughout the four towns that comprise the Central MA Regional Public Health Alliance. This position will follow up on housing, nuisance, and other public health complaints. In addition, the position will assist in updating all board of health regulations. The Regional Public Health Specialist must have thorough knowledge of Massachusetts general laws, rules and regulations pertaining to public health and general sanitation.

ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS:
- Conduct routine food, public & semi-public pools, beach, body art, camp, and tanning inspections
- Respond and investigate housing and nuisance complaints
- Work independently in multiple work environments inside and outside
- Assist in updating all board of health regulations in the alliance towns
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Proficiency in electronic databases and Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local laws pertaining to environmental health and public health sanitation
- Ability to maintain records and prepare reports\Ability to facilitate inter-disciplinary teamwork
- Ability to conceptualize and organize projects into manageable tasks
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong research, analytical and data skills
- Must have excellent time management skills and be able to prioritize tasks
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Business/Public Administration, Finance, or other related discipline
- An equivalent combination of education, training and three (3) years of experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job will be considered in lieu of the above requirements.
- Valid Driver’s License and access to reliable transportation
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- One (1) year of experience working at a local public health level, local municipality, and/or nonprofit agency.
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local laws pertaining to environmental health and public health sanitation.
SALARY RANGE: $25.91 – $33.47 hourly, part-time, non-benefitted
