Full-Time Regional Director-Southeast
Job Description
This is a Senior Executive Service position. The Regional Director, Southeast Region provides leadership to multiple diverse units of the National Park System in nine Southeastern states, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands with nationally recognized coastal and marine resources. The selectee will be responsible for the following:
- Managing programs associated with interpretation, use, development, protection, maintenance and environmental quality.
- Managing programs involving the maintenance of standards in regard to engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, history, archeology, forestry and natural and cultural resources.
- Managing a broad spectrum of partnership programs.
- Ensuring best practices in business management to protect park resources and provide visitor and community services.
- Directing, identifying, and correcting visitor and job safety.
- Directing park operations related to administration, including human resource management and equal opportunity; and
- Providing leadership in NPS civic initiatives, promoting public involvement and dialogue in key planning, interpretation, education and preservation issues
We are looking for an individual with a proven track record of working with executive teams, who possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills, has an understanding of and experience in cultural and natural resources, has successfully managed the preservation of a park in a large, geographically dispersed organization, and has attracted and retained a highly skilled and diverse workforce.
