ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re looking for an enthusiastic Tech Lead to help lead the technical direction of our consumer facing product team focussing on our mobile app. You’ll work in a small team alongside a Product Manager and Design Lead to help steer the product, inform what we build, determine the technical feasibility, as well as helping to prioritise work and keep more junior developers on track & delivering value.
This is an ideal opportunity for a strong individual contributor to work alongside and mentor a small team of developers or a current Tech Lead who wants to own the front end of a product that reaches millions of users.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Leading development on the next iteration of our mobile applications and user experience.
- Driving the architecture and functionality of our React Native apps.
- Supporting web front end development in our user platform.
- Working closely with product and design leads to plan, prioritise and deliver high-impact work.
- Mentoring other engineers and guiding software development best practices to deliver well-tested, performant and quality code.
- Coordinating with other product and platform teams.
REQUIRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years experience as a Software Developer
- At least 3 years delivering multi platform React Native solutions (iOS and Android)
- Experience leading the technical direction for a Product team, planning and organising Developer workloads
- Experience with Agile methodologies such as TDD, pair programming, refactoring, continuous deployment
- Experience with web front end technologies
- Ability to work in a flexible manner, supporting the team in building prototypes quickly, and evolving these into scalable production-quality systems
BIG PLUS IF YOU HAVE
- Experience developing commercial web applications in modern programming languages – we use Ruby (Rails, Sinatra), MySQL, Redis, Kubernetes, Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery/DataFlow)
- A love of live music
- Worked on a Service-Oriented Architecture
- Data processing and analytics experience
