Job Description
Time requirement: Full-time staff role through 2022 (with possibility of becoming permanent).
Geographic location: Remote in the United States
Role: We plan to hire someone who cares about advocating for families, loves the fast pace and creative opportunities which come from rapid response moments, and cares deeply about social justice. This position will primarily involve digital organizing skills combined with an occasional need to contribute to planning offline actions and media campaigns. You do not have to be a parent to be considered for this role!
Responsibilities:
- Run rapid response campaigns—including spotting advocacy opportunities and coordinating digital organizing—in service of organizational growth for ParentsTogether Foundation (c3) and ParentsTogether Action (c4)
- Liaise with members of the public, influencers, and partners via email and phone to identify compelling issue areas that will resonate with the current ParentsTogether membership as well as the prospective members
- Ideate, test, and run experiments to identify tactics which will maximize the growth of ParentsTogether digital actions
- Craft campaign concepts and draft copy for online petitions, email, SMS, surveys, and Messenger including use of ActionNetwork, MailChimp, and SurveyMonkey
- Plan a series of online and offline follow up actions to engage members after they take an initial action on important issues facing parents, caregivers, and families.
- Coordinate with content team to amplify campaigns via video and social media
Qualifications:
- Professional experience owning and running digital advocacy campaigns, not limited to political campaigns
- Experience growing membership in email, SMS, and/or social media channels
- Clear and concise writing, with appropriate tone and ability to articulate a strategic theory of change across digital platforms
- You do not need to be a parent, but must be comfortable talking with families; and have a passion for a range of issues impacting parents, caregivers, and families including the Child Tax Credit, climate, healthcare, racial justice, education, and accountability for Big Tech companies
- Track record of applying an equity lens to campaigning
- Ability to thrive independently and in a remote work environment
- Availability and flexibility to work full time to accommodate the needs of rapid response organizing. There may be some days where your hours may be longer than others, but we’re committed to balancing out your time overall.
Who We Are:
ParentsTogether is a community of over 3 million parents, caregivers, and advocates working together to make the world a better place for children and families. We are a small-but-growing, nimble team innovating across channels–from Messenger to SMS to email–to provide timely, relevant advocacy opportunities and compelling content that matters to families.
We organize parents and advocates to speak out in favor of economic justice, pandemic relief, public education, affordable childcare, kids’ health, racial justice, protection for immigrant families, and other important priorities where parent voices are central to the success of campaigns.
The ParentsTogether Foundation (c3) and ParentsTogether Action (c4) are collaborative and work to solve challenges together. We have a positive, low-ego, low-drama work culture. All of us love our work and are driven to help ParentsTogether succeed. Our strategy framework is based on lean startup principles. We try out ideas quickly, see what works, and iterate.
At ParentsTogether, we have an intersectional analysis and believe that building a multiracial, cross-class parent movement is non-negotiable. We are actively working to build a diverse team; people of color, people from poor and working class backgrounds, LGBTQ folks, and people with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply. We are an equal opportunity employer and do not discriminate based upon gender, race, national origin, disability, age, religion, sexual orientation, or gender expression.
