Full-Time Quality Technician

We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a(n) Quality Technician within our Quality team to help support our Work Furniture business. In our Work Furniture business, we design, manufacture, and distribute a wide range of components and finished products that enhance comfort, motion, and style in the work and home furniture industry. As a(n) Quality Technician you will report to the Quality Manager and have the opportunity to work closely with the Quality and Production Team to maintain Quality expectations established in the Quality Management System and by the customer. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by ensuring that the quality of our products are of a high standard. So, what will you be doing as a(n) Quality Technician?
- Provide support for production if questions arise around quality of product (finished goods and components).
- Position will work on quality improvement projects including structured testing of product and processes, updating shop floor paperwork, training personnel on shop floor paperwork, etc.
- Create and update documentation (Production books, WI’s, control plans, inspections checklists, Return Material Authorizations, etc.).
- Incoming inspection (including creating inspection records, measuring parts with various measurement tools, updating the log, changing the ranking in Syteline, etc.).
- Read, analyze, and interpret common scientific, technical and professional journals, blueprints, correspondence, memos, general business periodicals, technical procedures and governmental regulations. Write reports, business correspondence with a professional tone, and procedure manuals. Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Work with mathematical concepts such as probability and general statistics. Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Use computer software such as DraftSite, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Define problems as well as collect measurement data from a part drawing, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
- Perform visual, layout, dimensional, non-destructive and destructive tests of materials produced in-house and purchased against quality characteristics.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- Two-year college or university program certificate; or two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Capability of utilizing software in day-to-day work and be able to use shop measurement equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gage, pin gages, and tape measures.
