Background: M Plant Productions is a Type 6 extraction and manufacturing company located in Santa Rosa, CA. The food grade, 19,200 square foot facility completed construction in mid-2019. Our current product lines include The Root of it All® topicals and tinctures, Mistifi® Vape pens, and Tough Mama® infused pre-rolls and vape carts. We are starting a Type 11 distribution operation to maximize utilization of our large warehouse space and optimize our supply chain.

Position Description
The Quality Control technician is responsible for performing and accurately documenting quality checks on incoming raw materials, incoming packaging components, in process material, and finished products. The QC technician maintains a retain library, prints batch stickers, and helps the Quality Manager with investigations. In addition, they work as a member of the Quality Team in the creation and implementation of quality operations; including, training, auditing, record keeping, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.
Essential Functions
• Establish, promote, and maintain a quality focused culture in production
• Assist in batch pre-weigh, blend development, filling, labeling, pack-out and counts of all product lines
• Review log sheets for clean and sanitized production equipment and rooms
• Assist in general facility cleaning, maintenance, and organization
• Daily review of work activities in production areas
• Identify improvements and develop/implement actions steps
• Model work flexibility in daily routines
• Review in-process quality checks (IPQC) for completeness, accuracy and GDP requirements
• Member of the HACCP team
• Perform METRC transactions
• Perform and document finished product inspection against specifications and quality standards
• Assist and validate packaging solutions
• Perform quality checks on incoming packaging components
• Maintain retain library of packaging components, blends and finished products
• Assist in root cause investigations
• Conduct internal audits
• Perform new employee training and annual refresher training
• Support the Innovations team, performing tests and sampling as needed
• Participate in sensory analysis
• Practice GMPs and maintain compliance with state and local regulations
• Meet assigned KPIs
• Perform any other job duties as needed or assigned
• Capable of self-developing and driving process improvement initiatives

Requirements
• Must be 21 years of age or older
• 3 years of experience working in a quality focused position in a manufacturing environment (Preferably in CPG, cannabis manufacturing, or food/beverage)
• Proficient Microsoft suite abilities
• Organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and a positive attitude
Preferred Requirements
• HACCP, SQF, or ISO certified
• Bilingual in Spanish and English
• Sensory/organoleptic experience
• Use of an ERP system and or METRC
• Passion for cannabis
• Interested in sustainable business practices
Work Environment
This position works throughout the facility, warehouse, and administrative areas. The climate is controlled in the core facility and office. Temperature is semi-controlled in the indoor warehouse and may fluctuate with the seasons. The noise level fluctuates based off equipment being used and tasks being conducted. Personal protective equipment such as steel toe shoes are required for many duties. There are cameras throughout the facility for security purposes.
Physical Demands
This employee is frequently required to walk/stand greater than 50% of the time, or as often as necessary in carrying out job duties. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus with the ability to see objects in presence of bright lighting (ex: computer screen.) Speech and hearing abilities are frequently required to interact with management, coworkers, temporary staffing, suppliers, and transporters. The employee will be required to do repetitive tasks such as applying caps, labels, packing materials, and typing. Occasionally requires reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl less than 25% of time to move boxes of raw materials and package components. This position is classified as Medium work. Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. If someone can do medium work, we determine that he or she can also do sedentary and light work.
