Full-Time Public Works Engineering Division Manager
Job Description
Job Summary
The position reports to the County Engineer and works collaboratively with sections in other divisions such as Transportation, Road Operations, Real Property Services, Capital Programming and Development Review. The position also works closely the Clean Water, Parks, Communications and Finance Divisions of Public Works.
Typical tasks for this group include:
- Management of professional and technical staff on the installation and maintenance of signs
and pavement markings in accordance with local, state and federal standards
- Monitor and manage performance of section managers and progress of major capital projects
- Manage and monitor performance work output of multiple work sections
- Managing overall project delivery of major transportation projects
- Communicating with the public concerning transportation infrastructure conditions and
upcoming work.
- Using personal computers and software applications including GIS, word processing,
spreadsheets and databases.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Valid driver’s license
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or any other discipline applicable to the requirements of the position; and five years of increasingly responsible engineering and project or program management experience, including the supervision of professional and technical staff.
Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of Washington or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in a closely related field, preferably in a public works or community development agency.
2 years demonstrated management experience, managing a group of technical personnel, developing budgets, developing and achieving program goals and objectives.

Salary Grade: M2.833 ($7,925.00 – $11,193.00) per month
