Full-Time Public Relations Account Executive

What You’ll Do (Mission):

  • Work with clients to achieve increased awareness and elevate their presence in the media through earned media placements that align with client objectives. Strategically communicate client initiatives through leveraging of media relationships while in keeping with brand messaging.
  • Scrupulous attention to detail and ability to multitask both short term and long term media placements. Efficiently communicate with clients and facilitate their interactions with members of the press.
  • Tracking all opportunities while pursuing consistent coverage. Develop and perpetuate client confidence through clear, courteous, and professional communication. Ensure continual synergy with the client’s leadership to support its brand image and business goals- continually honing the strategy.
  • Constant monitoring of media coverage for client, their industry, and issues relating to their expertise for potential opportunities. A passion for the media is ideal.

Role Responsibilities and Outcomes

As the primary point of contact on assigned accounts, and under direction of the Account Director on the account, responsibilities will include:

  • Strong leadership presence in account work
  • Leading brainstorming sessions and work with the team to create communication strategies, press plans, and outreach lists- track, record, and report on outcomes
  • Creation of press materials including one-sheeters, client bios, press releases, media alerts, and more
  • Effectively and frequently pitches by phone as well as email, secures strategic and targeted placements with ease
  • Researching and developing general and specific media lists, updating constantly
  • Brainstorming innovative partnerships, speaking opportunities, and other ownable media moments for clients
  • Responsible for maintaining timely pitching and follow up, to ensure media opportunities
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively develop full range of written materials including pitches, press releases, byline articles, speeches, briefing sheets, client correspondence and reports
  • Supporting and training junior team members (i.e. answering questions, helping with edits, and giving direction).
  • Fostering new and maintaining existing relationships with network of media contacts
  • Leveraging knowledge of current social media environment to create content, strategy, and enhance brand equity through client social media platforms and interactions
  • Work in tandem with event production companies to execute high profile events for clients including press coverage, and day-of responsibilities such as photographer oversight, step and repeat management, and more

  • Understanding the current media environment and that not all placements are created equal, resulting in pitching outlets that are perfectly geared toward readership relevant to the client
  • A willingness to dive into any task- no matter how big or small
  • The honed ability to spot a typo from a mile away, a detail-oriented person who takes pride in their work
  • An “on-your-feet” positive attitude. Given the nature of our work, anything and everything can change in a matter of minutes- the ability to adapt and efficiently create a solution
  • Poise and confidence- the ability to interface with clients, high profile individuals and colleagues in a warm and professional manner
  • An extremely strong writer who can easily tweak their voice to fit a variety of different copywriting tasks such as creating talking points, social media posts, op-eds, and more
  • The ability to lead and manage all secondary and tertiary team members on accounts, oversee their work, manage deadlines, and provide constructive critique and copywriting edits.
  • Has at least 2 years of public relations agency experience
  • A proactive team player with leadership capabilities
