Job Summary

 

The Public Health Preparedness Coordinator I position is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating the public health emergency response capabilities for Clark County Public Health & Region IV Public Health Preparedness and Response. This position is key to deploying plans in the event of a public health threat or natural disaster. This position provides technical support, guidance, tools and reports for the department and program. This work must be coordinated and integrated with grant funders, the  county health jurisdictions in Washington Region IV (Cowlitz, Skamania, and Wahkiakum ), the Cowlitz Tribe, other Clark County departments, emergency management agencies, health care and first responder partners, community agencies and organizations, businesses, educational institutions, faith based organizations and others as appropriate

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience

 

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in a health related field, emergency management, or other related field and at least one year of related experience (or equivalent). All combinations of education, experience, and training that demonstrate the ability to perform the work will be considered.

Knowledge of:  The principles and practices of programmatic coordination;  federal, state, and local emergency management agencies; principles of emergency management, planning, ICS, and NIMS; the National Strategy for Health Security; Centers for Disease Control and Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response; grant management; state and federal laws and regulations relevant to the program area; analysis and evaluation of policies, procedures, public information, and service delivery; local and state lawmaking processes; research methods and techniques; trends and practices within the specialized area; and personal computer applications and usage.

  • Principles of emergency management, planning, Incident Command System, and the National Incident Management System courses; IS100, IS200, IS300, IS400, IS700, and IS800, or able to complete them in the first six months of hire date.
  • Principles of effective plan writing for emergency response systems and activities that promote community resiliency.
  • The dynamic forces contributing to cultural diversity and the impact of those forces on emergency planning, response efforts, and community health.
  • Principles and practices of project management, including planning, scheduling, monitoring, and problem solving; and
  • Centers for Disease Control and Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response grant requirements and expectations.
  • Public Health principles and practices.

Salary Grade: M2.816 ($5,210.00 – $7,358.00) per month
