Full-Time Proposal Manager
Job Description
Located within the Revenue Operations team, the Proposal Manager is a primary resource to support Passport’s Sales and Client Success teams with formal proposal responses and processes. The proposal is a critical step in bringing new and renewal business to Passport and the Proposal Manager plays a vital role in our continued success. This role includes both proposal writing and management of the project lifecycle.
The Proposal Manager works hand-in-hand with the other members of the Proposal Operations team and internal stakeholders to construct clear, concise, and powerfully written responses. In this role, the Proposal Manager ensures the value proposition of Passport’s current product offerings is effectively communicated by way of writing and editing proposal components to put forth the most compelling solutions possible for our clients.
You will develop a deep understanding of our products, partners, and company strategy. You will work to maintain our existing and expanding library of resources, past responses, and templates – and make them better. As the Proposal Manager, you will have the opportunity to deeply understand each internal department, the business needs, and to develop the resources and processes that will best support you and the full Proposal Operations team moving forward. This is a dynamic, mission-critical role that will require you to handle a high volume of requests simultaneously and productively.
Responsibilities:
- Be a Subject Matter Expert on Passport’s full suite of products
- Continually look for ways to improve the quality of our proposal submissions, as well as our proposal tools and processes
- Help to enforce Passport’s go/no-go process with the goal of allocating resources to the highest probability pursuits
- Work with team members/SMEs across the company, as well as teaming partners, to develop required proposal information. Ensure each proposal aligns with Passport’s standard operating procedures and product roadmap
- Research and write original material, including project descriptions, resumes, technical language, and more; writing should be clear and compelling while editing materials produced by proposal team members/SMEs, with an eye toward clarity, consistency, accuracy, and adherence to RFP requirements
- Write persuasive proposals that are read by key stakeholders in the largest cities in North America
- Share best practices across the team and with internal stakeholders so that our proposal process and content continue to improve
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- At least 3 years of experience, managing proposals for a SaaS company. Government/SLED experience a plus
- Strong technical writing and editing skills
- Proven track record of consistently delivering and meeting conflicting deadlines without sacrificing the quality of work
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and listening) with the ability to follow instructions and work effectively across internal and client teams
- Demonstrated ability to think critically, analytically, and independently
- Ability to manage multiple, complex projects at the same time
- Can manage ambiguity with confidence
- Willingness to learn about the technical inner workings of our system – experience with technical writing is not required, but technical curiosity is
- Demonstrated experience coordinating and managing large or cross-departmental projects
- Very comfortable using standard document development and sharing tools, including Google Workspace, SalesForce, Adobe, and ability to learn additional tools
