Full-Time Property Appraiser
Job Description
The City of Oshkosh, Wisconsin is searching for a Property Appraiser. This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position with a full benefits package. The hourly pay range is $26.98 – $30.83, depending on qualifications.
The Property Appraiser performs technical work in the office and in the field involving the collection and analysis of data essential to the valuation of real property for tax assessment purposes in the City of Oshkosh. Work involves making appraisals, using uniform and fair principles, practices and laws relating to local tax assessment in Wisconsin. Appraisers apply independent judgment based on knowledge gained through experience in the performance of assigned duties. Employees are expected to have excellent time management skills, rigorous attention to detail, and the ability to complete projects and assessments in a timely manner. General supervision is received from the City Assessor.
Qualified candidates will have:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent; candidates with an Associate’s Degree in a related field will be given preference
- A minimum of two years of progressively related experience such as in a municipal assessor’s office, a private appraisal company, a real estate organization or a Register of Deeds office
- Certification by the Wisconsin Department of Revenue as an Assessor I (or higher level) or the ability to obtain within one year of employment.
