Full-Time Property and Real Estate Manager
Job Description
We are looking for a Property and Real Estate Manager to join our team in Palo Alto, CA. This role will oversee the management and planning of building leases, as well as maintenance and repair operations at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS). The Property and Real Estate Manager is essential for ensuring that all properties are well-maintained and that lease agreements are effectively managed to support the organization’s operational needs.
Responsibilities:
- Provide daily oversight and enforcement of the lessor’s performance in meeting the terms and conditions of the lease.
- Develop and implement short-term management strategies for building operations through complex lease agreements.
- Apply analytical methods to review leases and guarantee reports, ensuring compliance with lease guidelines and financial objectives.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for VAPAHCS staff regarding building management, maintenance, and repairs.
- Regularly assess facility and service needs through interaction with VAPAHCS staff, prioritizing and facilitating responsive solutions.
- Compile and maintain an inventory of revocable licenses, MOUs, and sharing agreements for the VA Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS).
- Update real property trackers with current information regarding VAPAHCS revocable licenses, MOUs, and sharing agreements.
- Prepare and manage all documentation related to revocable licenses, MOUs, sharing agreements, and out leases.
- Conduct site assessments of underutilized spaces, including tenant-occupied areas, and monitor for potential space recovery.
- Provide site access to contractors and oversee their activities, ensuring compliance with site requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Property Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in real property management for commercial, industrial, and healthcare buildings.
- Professional knowledge of asset inventory systems (e.g., Capital Asset Inventory) and fiscal procedures for monitoring and verifying lease fund control points (FCP).
- Expertise in real property agreements, MOUs, and licenses.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills for developing clear and concise technical documents and presentations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical, legal, and engineering documents, maps, and architectural plans; capable of evaluating land values and making sound judgments.
