Job Title: Project Designer/Architect

This is a Project Designer role. The ideal candidate would be experienced in developing construction documents from initial site measure and schematic design through permit issuance, skilled at communications with clients and consultants, and have experience mentoring junior members of the team. This position would work closely with and supervise the Junior designer/Design intern to collectively produce the drawings necessary to complete the project. This position would report directly to the Principal Designer/Co-founder.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects from initial programming through permit issuance.
  • Production of, and supervision of staff for design and drafting/detailing of schematic, design development, and construction documents.
  • Develop and make client presentations, interpret client desires and translate their design goals into design and construction documents.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to Junior Designer/Design Intern to assist in professional development.

Daily Duties

  • Setup of project schedules, files, and folders as needed for project management.
  • Perform initial site measure with Design Intern or Junior Designer.
  • Preparation of existing drawings for use in the schematic design phase.
  • Preparation of schematic design drawings and or preliminary renderings as needed for design presentations.
  • Coordinate and lead client meetings and design review meetings
  • Produce design development drawings in preparation for coordination with consultants.
  • Coordinate consultant drawings and materials, and incorporate into set for projects submittal.
  • Preparation of plans, applications, and forms as needed for submittals to jurisdiction.
  • Process city submittals, permitting, and plan check with multiple jurisdictions.

Required skills:

  • Experience with leading a project team and capable of detailing and producing construction documents in Revit with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrable experience & knowledge producing construction drawings in Revit.
  • Experience using Lumion, Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD and G Suite.
  • Knowledge of materials, construction techniques, and building codes relevant to residential construction.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
  • Must be detail oriented and able to complete projects in a timely manner.
  • Enjoy being part of a team and work well with others (both internal and external customers).
  • Adaptable/flexible – able to adjust to rapidly changing priorities and able to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously with a professional and positive demeanor.

Experience / Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years: Residential Design & Drafting, ADU experience preferred
  • Professional Degree in Architecture from an accredited architecture program
