Part-Time Project Coordinator
Job Description
The purpose of Highlands Rewilding is to enable nature recovery and community prosperity through rewilding taken to scale. We manage land to achieve measurable increases in three areas – biodiversity, carbon sequestration and community benefits – while generating ethical profits. We currently operate in three locations: Bunloit in Inverness-shire, Beldorney in Aberdeenshire, and Tayvallich in Argyllshire.
As part of the community prosperity element of our mission we are undertaking an 18-month project to identify potential community ‘joint ventures’, which provide ecosystem-service based benefits under investment-ready business plans. The Project Coordinator will lead this process. The role The Project Coordinator will be responsible for managing all aspects of delivering the ‘Joint Ventures for scalable community benefits from rewilding’ FIRNS project, collaborating closely with the Community Engagement Coordinator.
This project is supported by NatureScot in collaboration with the Scottish Government and in partnership with the National Lottery Heritage Fund. The role is funded by the project.
The role will involve:
• Managing all aspects of the project on a day-to-day basis.
• Creating a detailed plan and budget for the project finances.
• Working closely with the finance team to put a monitoring procedure in place for the project finances.
• Producing monthly receipts of costs and project progress reports.
• Handling the tender and overseeing contracts (for example business plan modelling, and legal advice).
• Ensuring timely completion of project deliverables.
• Working with the Science and local estate teams to embed the project within wider estate management and research, including appropriate monitoring of outcomes.
• Building and maintaining excellent working relationships with relevant external organisations.
• Being an active participant in the team striving to enable nature recovery and community prosperity through rewilding.
The role is remote working with trips to site as required. This will be a part-time (0.5 FTE) role working 2.5 days a week flexibly within the company working hours of Monday-Friday, 9am–5pm. On occasion, there may be a need to work outside of these hours, particularly when travelling to site.
The role is a limited contract until the end of February 2025 when the 18 months of the project comes to an end. There may be potential for future roles.
The salary will be in the range of £30,000 – £35,000 pro rata (0.5 FTE), depending on experience. The successful applicant will report to the Co-chief Scientists.
