Full-Time Program Guide
Job Description
Located on the eastern slope of Hawaii’s Big Island, Pacific Quest offers a unique experience for struggling Adolescents (13-17) and Young Adults (18-24). Many residents come to Pacific Quest because traditional therapy methods have not been successful. They are often distressed and overwhelmed by the demands of everyday life. In our sensory-rich and dynamic environment, interventions are tailored to meet residents where they are able to help them achieve optimal growth. That’s where you come in.
Program Guides work side-by-side with residents, helping them to understand and engage in PQ’s therapeutic model of horticulture therapy, rites of passage, and integrative wellness. Guides and residents exercise together, maintain the gardens, engage in a variety of therapeutic curriculum and objectives, explore the island’s natural wonders, and participate in community service projects. Guides teach residents how to be the best versions of themselves by role modeling healthy communication, holding boundaries, and making sure each resident is safe at all times.
Guides operate on a 4-days on, 3-days off schedule—equating to 40-55 hours/week. Overnight staff allow Guides to sleep in their own homes each night. Lush greenery, volcanoes, and famous beaches can all be found on your drive into work. Compensation includes a competitive wage, $500 bonus potential, 401(k), and comprehensive medical coverage. Relevant experience in education, horticulture therapy, rites of passage, health and wellness, or work with at-risk youth is preferred.
