Full-Time Program Coordinator – Limited English Proficiency (LEP) Pathway

Job Description

Clark College is currently accepting applications for a full-time, permanent classified Program Coordinator to support the Limited English Proficiency (LEP) Pathway program within the Basic Education for Adults department. The successful candidate will be part of a team to support refugees and immigrants, to help them gain language proficiency necessary to obtain and maintain employment and/or integrate into their new communities. This position reports to the LEP Administrative Services Manager and can expect to work at the Columbia Tech Center (CTC) location Monday – Friday.

LEP Pathway program is funded by ORIA (Office of Refugee & Immigrant Assistance) to provide ESL classes levels 1-6 for refugees and immigrants and is part of the College’s Basic Education for Adults department. This position is a contract-funded position with a year-to-year contract (expected duration through September 2028). Continuation is dependent upon annual renewal of contract funding.

Position Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Communicate effectively with students that speak little to no English.
  • Schedule intake and post testing appointments, provide driving directions, and send appointment reminders through translated emails and text messages.
  • Assist students with technology training & troubleshooting to create Zoom, Canvas, and email accounts. Communication in person, on Zoom, and over the phone.
  • Proctor CASAS testing, interpret results to students, track test results, identify students ready to post test and prepare quarterly progress reports.
  • Coordinate student support services program by ordering, tracking, and circulating technology devices and books.
  • Collect and copy student immigration documents for program eligibility, while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Maintain student files to ensure documentation required by the Office of Refugee and Immigrant Assistance is included and current.
  • Monitor caseload for students’ eligibility in the program.
  • Coordinate, track, and report student self-study activities during breaks between quarters to meet required participation hours.
  • Create shared documents to track program deliverables.
  • Update LEP Teams site, organizing and saving back-up documentation, student registration information, and schedules.
  • Collaborate with Basic Education for Adults staff and faculty to promote student success.
  • Provide excellent customer service to perspective students, current students, and campus and community partners.
  • Participate in college-wide training and student success initiatives.
  • Other assignments as needed.

 

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES:
Candidates will be evaluated based on application materials, including the supplemental questions and personal interview(s), and will be required to demonstrate competencies in the following areas:

  • High school graduation or equivalent AND two (2) years of experience in a program specialty OR equivalent education/experience.

  • Ability to work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain strong communication.
  • The initial appointment will include a 6-month probationary period and the employee will earn permanent status after successfully completing probation.
  • This position is represented by Washington Public Employees Association.
  • Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted which includes a sexual misconduct background check as required under RCW 28B.112.080. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant’s suitability and competence to perform in the position.

SALARY/BENEFITS: 
Salary Range: $3,477 – $4,632 /month | Step A-M (commensurate with qualifications and experience) | Range: 40 | Code: 107N
Successful candidates typically start at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases.
