Description: Pedego Alexandria is looking to train a new bicycle mechanic to maintain and manage our fleet of rental bikes, to service customer bikes, and to assist in manual labor. Applicants that identify as women, gender minority, or persons of color are eligible for a QBP professional training scholarship! Deadline April 8th. We would be delighted to help employees pursue these scholarships. We’re looking for someone smart, determined, and considerate. We can train a great person to be a great mechanic, we can’t train a great mechanic to be a great person.
Duties:
- Make sure our rental fleet stays in tip-top shape
- Diagnose and repair customer bikes
- Explain technical procedures to customers
- Assist with display and lock-up of bikes
- Prepare bikes for scheduled rentals and events
- Help with moving heavy shipment materials
- Assemble products from boxes
- Install accessories and customize components
- Build store furnishings
- Maintain the workshop area
Basic Qualifications:
- General availability 10 am – 6 pm Mon & Thur–Sat , 1 pm – 5 pm Sun
- Any prior work experience
- Interest in electric bikes
- Get to the shop on time
- Speak conversational English
- Capable of working with tools
- Lift 100 lbs to chest level
- Hold 100 lbs for 20 seconds
- Able enough to tinker
- Learn from video tutorials
- Read handwritten instructions
- Possess driver’s license
- Sharp observational perception
- Comfortable with analytical problem solving
- Enjoy focusing on single tasks for extended periods
- Accept responsibility for mistakes easily
- Take personal pride in quality of projects
- Respectful of minority communities at all times
- Support of mobility justice, sustainability, accessibility
- Desire to go above and beyond basic duties
Bonus Qualifications:
- Prior mechanic experience
- Speak Spanish
- Ride a bike
- Generally handy
- Any special skill
- Own a Pedego e-bike 🙂
