Full-Time Professional Development Facilitator – Elementary Computer Science
Job Description
BootUp is seeking a full-time Professional Development Facilitator to join our team to bring computer science and coding to ALL elementary students. How would you like to promote equity in computer science, work with teachers and school districts, and build your sphere of influence far beyond your classroom or school?
Professional Development Facilitators will lead in-person professional development as well as provide highly engaging, content-driven virtual professional development to their assigned districts. Extensive travel to districts nationwide is required for this role. Applicants should have integrity and professionalism and enjoy working with and supporting teachers and district administrators to implement district-wide elementary computer science.
Successful applicants will have the following required qualifications:
- Strong commitment to equity in computer science education
- Demonstrated success (3+ years) working in a Kindergarten – 8th grade school setting
- Prior experience leading in-person or virtual professional development for K-8 teachers
- Keen interpersonal and communication skills – both verbal and written
- Excellent organizational skills, including the capacity to coordinate details
- Ability to travel and an excitement about experiencing different locales and cultures
- Self-motivation and the ability to perform independently
- Willingness to learn and flexibility for change
- Comfort with feedback and interest in adapting based on that feedback
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and work experience
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with K-8 computer science content, particularly in an educational setting
- Certified teacher (with or without a degree)
- Problem-solving skills and ability to generate creative solutions
- Experience working in a classroom setting with students of all abilities
- Special education experience
- ELL and/or multilingual experience
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide engaging professional learning for teachers in both in-person and virtual settings
- Provide model teaching and coaching support to teachers at assigned districts
- Once assigned districts, schedule PD and coach directly with teachers and districts
- Communicate with district administrators, instructional coaches and teachers
- Document professional development and coaching through notes, photos, and/or video
- Create and update district action plans for each assigned district
- Train and support school district instructional coaches (train-the-trainer model)
- Facilitate collaboration within local professional learning communities
- Respond to feedback from multiple sources
- Share and learn with others at BootUp and within the larger CS education space
- Note: BootUp provides an extensive onboarding and training program, and all PD content and curriculum have already been developed. Therefore, specific content knowledge is not required.

BootUp is a remote (or distributed) workplace so relocation is not necessary. Benefits include health insurance, Simple IRA, and a flexible schedule and working environment. Employees will be supplied with all necessary equipment (or funds to purchase such equipment) to complete their job. All travel expenses (i.e., airfare, hotel, car rental, and food) are reimbursed monthly.
Salary: $60,000-$70,000, based on experience
