Position Summary:
This role serves as product owner for a variety of digitally enabled products within Points of Light’s portfolio of programs. These include purpose-built web apps for the Disney Family Volunteering Ticket Rewards program, The President’s Volunteer Service Award, a volunteer marketplace software solution called Points of Light Engage, as well as our Salesforce enterprise CRM system, the main corporate website, pointsoflight.org and various platforms supported by third party solutions.
Position Functions and Responsibilities
As the product owner in the organization, this person works with both internal and external Developers, the Salesforce admin, and other resources to execute technical enhancements, feature development, and maintenance requests across the product portfolio. The position serves as the liaison to all other departments and each product’s business owner to help inform and execute on business requirements, fully test products and contribute to the go-to-market launch plans of products and features/enhancement releases. This staff position is a member of the cross-functional Agile team responsible for defining user stories, owning the backlog of requests, interfacing with stakeholders, and overseeing the day-to-day work of the development scrum team.
Key responsibilities as Product Owner:
- Gather business needs from across the enterprise and translate them into technology requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Lead the planning for product features releases by setting expectations for delivery of new functionalities, developing use cases, and prioritizing stories, epics, and themes to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value that are aligned with product strategy.
- Provide vision and direction to the Agile development scrum team and stakeholders throughout the project(s) and features/functionality product development; provide regular status updates on development to senior leadership.
- Provide vision and direction to Salesforce admin and Salesforce CRM internal team throughout the project(s) and features/functionality product development; provide regular status updates on development to senior leadership.
- Manage Sprint planning routines including backlog maintenance, facilitation of estimates, prioritization and sequencing across multiple products and epics, and ultimate acceptance of user stories into the sprint cycle.
- Ensure systems are in place to manage execution of development sprints and visibility of development status of tickets accepted into the sprint, including oversight of a project management software solution (we currently use Clubhouse.IO).
- Provide direction to contract UX/UI designers for wireframes, as needed, in coordination with internal stakeholders and developers.
- Conduct User Acceptance Testing with business owners, mitigate impediments impacting successful team completion of Release/Sprint Goals.
- Work with business owners and the digital team to conduct demos of the product(s) as needed.
- Collaborate with digital team to communicate technical and budget needs/dependencies and inform/assist in decision making and sequencing of critical technology infrastructures and environments.
Core Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Previous work experience in digital product management and Agile development environment
- Knowledge of and experience applying Agile process and principles
- Knowledge of Salesforce ecosystem (specifically, the Nonprofit Success Pack)

Requirements
- BA or BS degree
- Minimum four years’ experience in a product management role required for the position
- Salesforce NPSP experience (certifications preferred)
