Role Purpose:
Reporting to the Product Line Director; this is a Product Management role with a broad responsibility for lifecycle management Colt’s portfolio of Access Technologies. With the unprecedented growth and build-out of fibre networks globally – this role will be instrumental in leveraging these builds to deliver seamless, pan-European capabilities to support Colt’s entire product portfolio.
This will include:
Access technology specifications and requirements development
Introduction of new access platforms and technologies where appropriate
Driving the on-boarding of Access partners, with a particular focus on dark-fibre / metro fibre providers
Supporting Colt’s fast-growing SD-WAN portfolio by delivering wide-ranging 3rd party ISP coverage options, providing the IP underlay for Colt’s product
Management of end-of-life programmes (on behalf of Product Management) for legacy technologies, including DSL and SDH
Support sales and pre-sales with an access portfolio to facilitate sales of Colt’s core networking products, including Optical, Packet, and IP-based services
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Manage and maintain the portfolio of Access products, ensuring that cross-portfolio product requirements are delivered
Define and document the Access roadmap and Strategy – and engage key stakeholders in the business to facilitate the necessary agreements
Standardise access offerings to ensure they align with existing core product SLA requirements
Define Colt’s Interconnect / NNI Strategy – set out what new access technologies are required to support the portfolio; taking into account the requirements of all product lines
Be the expert for 3rd party access services, both technically and commercially. Understand the wider market context for fibre-based services in order to maximise Colt’s commercial success
Maintain relevant documentation detailing access product capabilities and availability matrices
Work closely with IT teams to automate quoting and procurement / establish APIs as required
Evaluate and select the correct access technology to support portfolios such as SD-WAN. Drive a programme to connect multiple additional ISPs to enhance the appeal of Colt’s SD-WAN product line
Experience:
5 years relevant experience in Product Management in a telecommunications environment. This may include product or portfolio management, with a specific focus on fibre networks and access technologies.
Preferred Background:
Technical and commercial knowledge of fibre networks, telecommunications infrastructure, ISP services, and the relevant marketplace (Competition, customer profiles, suppliers etc.). A telecoms Product Management background would be advantageous, as would a knowledge of mobile/wireless technologies.
Required:
Excellent Project Management and Influencing skills – you will need to drive key stakeholders in the business to help create the Access portfolio
Strong data-driven decision making capabilities
Good articulation skills (verbal and in writing) and experience in presentation skills – being able to present and position complex topics
Excellent English language skills (writing and verbal). Additional language skills are favourable
Skills/Qualifications:
Recent, relevant experience in working in a fibre or networking-related (including wireless) discipline.
Professional Qualification is preferable
Degree or equivalent in a related business field
