Full-Time Product Manager
Job Description
What’s the opportunity
Recurrent is on a mission to get more electric vehicles (EVs) on the road – we aim to accelerate the used electric car market by making it more accessible and transparent for millions of vendors and buyers alike.
As a product manager, your goal will be to drive the purchase and sale of more EVs. The products you’ll build and shape are battery reports, an essential tool in evaluating an electric car. You’ll help advance our vision and answer questions surrounding our core offerings. As a fast-growing startup, we are at the intersection of many different users and opportunities – if you love solving problems, leading the charge to focus on core problems, and working creatively in many different areas, we’d love to hear from you!
Light duty passenger vehicles represent 20% of carbon emissions in the U.S. Electrifying passenger vehicles, in parallel with transitioning our power grid to cleaner energy sources, really moves the needle on climate. We’re proud to be working towards helping our planet too.
What will I be doing?
- You’ll deliver a product that solves proven problems in a way that drives a connected, more personal experience for your end users.
- You’ll keep focus on our core user problems and lead through example across the multi-functional areas of the company to think big but start small.
- You’ll manage your roadmap by prioritizing the most meaningful work that drives the outcomes aligned with our product strategy and you’ll work closely with the development teams to keep them on task in an inspired way.
- You’ll deeply understand the problem you’re solving by self-conducting research, prioritizing interactions with your end-users, use frameworks to understand opportunities vs feature requests, and make trade-offs across very different user types.
- You’ll launch to learn, not to check off a feature: each thing we release aims to solve a problem but you will own evaluating if your solutions achieved pre-defined goals through quantitative and qualitative measures.
- You’ll own your go-to-market by working closely with Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success; you’ll ask ‘what does successful engagement look like for this specific solution’ and support a group of smart, committed people to create an individualized launch for each release.
- You’ll use customer research, white-boarding, and wire-framing to scope your solutions down to their smallest scope to get it shipped early so the team can learn fast.
- You will own your product metrics and self-education on what success means for your product and users.
What skills do I need?
- 3+ years in a product manager role including B2C experience.
- You have a sense of humor, optimistic outlook, and love building relationships.
- You have a proven track record of solving problems and achieving meaningful outcomes.
- You’re a great listener and are comfortable saying no; you can have hard conversations maturely and ensure everyone feels heard as you weigh different perspectives.
- You have experience working with qualitative customer research and building relationships. You’re familiar seeking insights, interactions, surveys, and prototype testing that lead you to making an informed decision.
- You’re curious, outcome-oriented, and able to pivot; your work isn’t done until you’ve achieved the intended outcome. You aim to run beta launches, post-launch metrics, and more to measure that.
- Ideally, you have a passion for design and deep user empathy; you can consider product design trade-offs and are comfortable doing rough wireframes in Figma or mapping a user journey. You’re passionate about simple, low-effort experiences.
- You have a solid background working with data and defining your own metrics; we don’t expect you to be a SQL wizard but you’re comfortable working with quantitative data and brainstorming with data science teams.
- You are an excellent verbal and written communicator. You can zoom in or out based on your audience and can rally a team juggling many projects with a bold, succinct vision.
- You’ve displayed comfort juggling ambiguity and asks across the company. You’re an entrepreneur who is self-driven to weed out what’s important vs what’s not.
Nice to haves
- You’re always thinking about how to design and develop products better. Like us, you geek out over Basecamp’s Shape Up, Intercom on Product Management, How Figma Builds Products and Processes, Jobs To Be Done, or more.
- You employ a ‘Steal Like an Artist’ attitude. Great and successful companies have poured resources, time, and wickedly smart people into their solutions – why build our own from scratch when we can learn from them?
- You have some coding experience, whether that’s a few online coding classes, a bootcamp, a computer science degree, etc. We love it when people know the basics to better support our development team.
Location
