We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Product Engineer at our IDEA Center to help support our Bedding business. Did you know we have been revolutionizing the sleep industry since 1883? As a Product Engineer, you will have the opportunity to be creative and solve problems taking products from inception to completion creating the next generation of bedding. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by leveraging your talents to ensure our products keep us positioned as the industry leader. So, what will you be doing as a Product Engineer?
- Take products from strategic concepts to production-ready
- Apply engineering talents to meet both design and timeline requirements
- Fully support manufacturing operations by preparing new products for a seamless handoff
- Work closely with sales and product management to convert market demands and concepts into production-ready products
- Proactively seek new materials, methods, and technologies with a focus on products that provide a distinct competitive advantage
- Design Proof of Concept (POC) and assist in the construction of prototypes
- Provide input for the development of new testing procedures
- Keep current knowledge of L&P product lines
- Provide world-class customer service for both internal and external customers
- Provide management with regular project updates
- Fully support a safe working environment
- Less than 25% travel as needed
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- A naturally curious mind and an understanding of how things work
- Excellent communication skills to be able to work with cross-functional departments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, specifically Excel and SolidWorks
- Experience in product design and development conducive to manufacturing processes
- Ability to create and interpret product specifications and technical reports
- Proven track record of providing creative solutions
Things we consider a plus:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or an engineering-related discipline
