Brella Productions, a full service digital production company located in Evanston, IL is seeking a full time Producer/ Editor to join our team at our Headquarters office.

Producer / Editor Job Purpose: The Producer / Editor is both a highly creative and organizational position. They assist the production team during all phases of production to have an efficient creative and technical workflow. They will work hand in hand with managers, creative and technical team members and end clients to ensure creative and workflow needs are met on time, in budget and at the expected quality. They are a logistics and communication specialist, needing good writing, organization, planning and visualization skills. They must be comfortable communicating their creative vision as well as executing it directly or through a team in post.

JOB DUTIES:

Pre-Production:

  • Assess creative vision for project
  • Collaborate on creative notes and the project’s creative approach with Brella creative/strategic leads
  • Interpret, execute and/or assign internal and client creative notes
  • Ensure workflow and technical feasibility of creative vision
  • Participate in client calls and meetings as needed
  • For shoots: Assists the Project Manager and/or Department Manager in coordination, including but not limited to –
    • Location research, scouting, and coordination with location contacts.
    • Creation of shoot schedules
    • Creating storyboard and other visual script documents.
    • Review of any scripts, storyboards, VO, etc. to ensure key information is accounted for, accurate and makes sense
    • Assists with gear lists, shot lists, and other Pre-Production tasks as needed

Shoot Production:

  • Lead production team in the field. Ensures crew and Brella provided talent are functioning efficiently, safely and professionally.
  • Exercises independent judgment to manage production schedule for on-time performance and within project labor budget criteria
  • Manage incidental project expenditures while in the field
  • Assist team on setting up lighting, cameras, audio and production gear as needed and as time allows
  • Conduct interviews/direct talent for simple shoots
  • Act as client liaison and advocate
  • Act as script supervisor, as needed
  • Run teleprompter, as needed.
  • Operate camera, sound, or lighting equipment at a basic level as a supplemental crew as needed
  • Shoot B-roll independently and run a simple interview set-up
  • Lead and/or coordinate on-site creative and technical troubleshooting

Post-Production:

  • Creatively lead post-production on individual projects
  • Editing video, graphics, still images and sound into all phases of post (RC, FC, PL)
  • Work directly with other editors, producers, and visual artists on needed elements or edit feedback
  • Support and contribute to quality control and improvements in post
  • Research and recommend new workflows, software / plugs ins, etc., to stay in compliance with or ahead of current best practices.
  • Recommendations for efficiencies in equipment, processes, and staff utilization.

SKILLS:

  • Highly skilled in documentary and sizzle video post-production
  • Working knowledge of digital compression for file delivery and baseline color correction.
  • Working knowledge of technical workflows for exchanging edit files with graphics and audio depts. (Integration with After Effects and ProTools)
  • Proficient in industry editing/graphics/audio software
  • Ability to adapt production style based on project needs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot difficult or sensitive problems and find positive solutions.
  • Able to identify actionable items in meetings and run with them independently.
  • Able to bring projects from start to completion independently.
  • Able to develop and implement creative solutions to challenges for self and team, when limited information is available
  • Comfortable organizing and giving creative and technical direction
  • Comfortable receiving and disseminating creative feedback
