Overall Responsibilities
Reporting to the Product and Process Engineer the Process Technician is responsible to perform product and process studies following the Jamieson R&D Principles and Practices Guidance Manual or studies as assigned. In this capacity, the Process Technician will be required to operate, maintain and clean all R&D resource tools and equipment in a safe and orderly fashion with an ultimate goal of improving current and developing future Jamieson products.

Specific Key Responsibilities & Duties
• Prepare R&D prototypes, pilot batches and perform R&D studies as assigned
• Physical testing and evaluation of R&D products as required
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of R & D product development projects
• Operate and obtain data/results from R&D equipment and instruments including but not limited to: tablet presses, blenders, coaters, hardness, friability, particle size and flow testing equipment
• Evaluate chemical and physical properties of new raw materials and make recommendations for approval
• Working in compliance with the company’s Health & Safety Policies/SOPs including but not limited to the Safety Responsibilities Procedure
• Will comply with Good Manufacturing Practices in all GMP sensitive areas of Jamieson Laboratories Ltd. Facilities
• Other duties and projects as deemed necessary

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Requirements
• Degree or diploma in Science or Engineering (preferably in Chemistry, Food Science or Pharmacology) from an accredited College and/or University
• One (1) to three (3) years’ experience in Research, Product Development and/or in a Manufacturing capacity, preferably in the Nutraceutical/Pharmaceutical and/or Food Industry
• Work experience/expertise in liquid, softgel, tablet/softgel coating, or other supplement delivery technologies would be an asset
• Computer literate, including effective working skills in Word, Excel, MS Project and MS Outlook
• Strong skills in mathematics and statistics would be an asset
• Energetic, self-motivated and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to work shiftwork and overtime to complete projects in a timely fashion as required
• Effective project prioritization, multi-tasking and communication skills a must
• Knowledge of GMP, GLP and Health & Safety training an asset
