We’re seeking a future team member in the role of Principal, Fullstack Developer to join our Pershing Tech team. This role is in Jersey City, NJ, – HYBRID.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

Must have demonstrative experience in development of web applications with thorough knowledge in web front-end (browser client side) and backend server-side technologies. Must have a strong understanding of architecture and design principles, web security principles and relational databases. Apply good design patterns and principles in software implementation.

Will lead the technical design and development of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems following software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes. Work in an Agile development model and deliver projects within committed timelines.

Analyzes, defines, develops, and documents design and interfaces with other systems to meet business solutions. Integrate software components into a fully functional software system. Leverage existing functionality and promote reuse.

Implement well-designed, testable and efficient programs. Apply web security and privacy principles in software implementations. Ensures that expected application performance levels are achieved.

Troubleshoot, debug and implement solutions to resolve application issues. Support ongoing functionality enhancements and software currency (technical debt and gain).

Actively participate in code reviews, test plans and test data reviews. Work with other engineers on the team to elevate technology and consistently apply best practices. Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers, business users and project managers to achieve elegant solutions.

Provide recommendations for continuous improvement. Acts as mentor to junior level engineers. Work in an onshore/offshore extended team model.

May allocate/ coordinate work within a team/project. Consults with internal business groups to provide application software development services. May be responsible to support requirements gathering and BRD/SRD preparation.

Active learning engagement. Complete all required mandatory training / policy awareness curricula on time. Use learning tools such as Pluralsight to complete both recommended and aspirational targets set in personal development plans.

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience as a Full Stack web developer
  • Advanced knowledge of software architecture and design methodologies.
  • Deep knowledge of web programming, distributed systems, performance testing and tuning.
  • Strong experience in Angular, Javascript, Java, Spring, Spring boot, Spring cloud, Microservices, REST API’s, HMTL
  • Good knowledge and experience in Oracle or any SQL database.
  • Strong understanding of web application security and secure coding principles.
  • Ability to solve complex software system issues.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of other browser client-side frameworks a plus.
  • Working knowledge in following tools – GIT, Visual Studio Code, Eclipse, Git, JIRA, Maven, SonarQube, Junit, Selenium, preferred
  • Familiarity with DevOps CI / CD tools and techniques.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment
  • Exposure to cloud infrastructure-based application solutions a plus
  • Familiarity with design modeling tools a plus
  • Experience in web design, styling, CSS a plus.
  • Experience in team management
  • Time management skills to meet the expectations of a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.

BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $108,000 and $242,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
