Joyful Jobs is recruiting a Primary Care Nurse Practitioner on behalf of a Tucson nonprofit organization which promotes health, well-being, and social justice for those living with HIV, LGBTQ+ individuals, and communities marginalized by society.
Scope of Work: The Primary Care Nurse Practitioner will be part of the organization’s strategic growth into clinical services, creating the region’s first health center focused on LGBTQ+ affirming care. This position may begin part time or full time (0.5 to 1.0 FTE) with the ability to increase up based on availability and patient volume.
The organization’s Board of Directors recently approved a strategic plan that includes providing direct clinical services to our growing community. These services will be provided free of charge, allowing us to reinvent the wheel away from a fee-for-service model of care to an innovative service line that can integrate with the community, with the organization’s current services to over 2000 clients, and truly meet community needs.
Services will target the organization’s current clients, including those living with HIV and those utilizing the organization’s prevention / testing / PrEP navigation services and youth services; and will focus on providing care to LGBTQ+ members of our community as well as others historically underserved by our health care infrastructure.
Functional Responsibilities:
Provide full spectrum primary care services including peds and adult, including:
- Acute care visits including basic wound care
- Chronic care visits
- Prevention / well visits / pap smears
- PrEP / PEP (training can be provided if experience limited)
- Gender affirming care (training can be provided if experience limited)
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Reports to the Director of Clinical and Prevention Services
Minimum Qualifications:
- Unencumbered AZ license or AZ-eligible for licensure in Advanced Practice Nursing; current prescribing privileges including a DEA license for controlled substances
- Current CPR / BLS
- Three years substantive experience providing full spectrum primary care services to peds and adults, and ability to practice unsupervised / independently
- Substantive experience and comfort providing care for and serving the LGBTQ+ community
- Comfort providing care and serving communities of color, low-income communities including those experiencing homelessness, communities with IVDU, undocumented communities, etc., and in providing harm reduction services
- Willingness to work some evenings/nights and weekends each month based on the organization’s programs and community outreach
Preferred Qualifications:
- Able to conduct full patient history and physical in Spanish
- Flexibility and innovation – clinical services won’t always be in a room every 15 minutes, but may be at our different sites serving youth / young LGBTQ+ adults, in the field serving clients during our Syringe Access Program (needle exchange), those experiencing homelessness surrounding the organization’s sites, and during the organization’s outreach events
Compensation: Compensation annualized to $115,000 for 1.0 FT, or higher depending on experience; benefits include health, dental, and life insurance; 401(k) with matching, long- and short-term disability insurance. Malpractice covered by the organization.
