Full-Time Portfolio Accounting Manager
Job Description
The Team:
Our EMEA Portfolio Accounting Team is expanding. We are on-boarding new clients and growing our EMEA footprint. The client base is a mix of large global Investment Managers (IM’s) as well as local UK based (IM’s). The team is part of Investment Operations and has oversight of the Investment Book of Record (IBOR) utilised by our clients. The IBOR is the collective term for reporting provided to the clients to support trading activities including position, cash, forecasting and NAV returns.
Job Purpose:
An excellent opportunity for an experienced manager to join a growing and fast-paced team, based in our Manchester Piccadilly office. The team are responsible for the daily client reporting and reconciliations in support of the IBOR. To facilitate this the team:
- Regularly leads on interactions with clients in providing consultation and ensuring team resolution for complex inquiries and transactions.
- Manages the performance of assigned staff and sets team priorities.
- Allocates work to team members and begins focus more on HR accountabilities for the team.
- Recruits, directs, motivates and develops staff, maximizing their individual contribution, their professional growth and their ability to function effectively with their colleagues as a team.
- Also responsible for oversight of processing, trend analysis, client engagement, TPG review (SLA), process improvement, industry specialist, architecturally aware, incident management, and on shore recovery (processing).
- Is Responsible for multiple custodian bank reconciliations for cash and stock working across multiple accounting platforms and clients.
- Provide daily and monthly reporting including positions, cash forecasting, month end client reports and ad hoc requests.
- Works closely with global stakeholders including BNYM and external custodians, brokers and internal utilities (derivatives, corporate actions, recon support, pricing, transfer agency, fund accounting and market fx).
- Responsible for the achievement of team goals and objectives, talent management and supervision of Middle Office staff.
- Provide input on developing and implementing functional strategy. Leading client and systemic change to meet our commitments.
- Communication is key; a successful candidate would be expected to interact with senior members on the client side.
We are looking for candidates with:
- Bachelors’ degree preferred, or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrable product knowledge (Funds, Derivatives, Equities and Fixed Income).
- Demonstrable systems knowledge (TLM, Eagle, IAS) preferred but not essential.
- Experience in the securities or financial services industry.
- Experience in leading functional/client change initiatives.
- 5-7 years of total relevant experience in accounting/financial services with at least 1 year of management experience preferred.
