Full-Time Policy Officer

Job Description

Our client is a highly regarded professional medical membership organisation, with a wealth of experience in the membership world, and they are looking for a ‘Policy Officer’ in Scotland to support their policy and public affairs activities.

The scope of the role is to provide the necessary administrative and policy support, assist with background research for policy and parliamentary work and collaborate with the Officers in the organisation to influence Scottish Government and policy makers on key issues and delivering campaigns in line with our client’s strategy.

This is a great chance to work in a collaborative environment, where everyone is heard and supported, working together towards the common cause of impacting mental health issues in Scotland.

Full time, permanent position.

Hybrid working pattern – home based combined with 2 days per week working in our client’s offices in Edinburgh.

Occasional travel with overnight stay will be required.

Salary £35,593 (35 hours per week) + great benefits package (pension scheme, life assurance, 28 days annual leave, TOIL scheme, paternity leave, etc.)

 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience and knowledge of the health and social care sector in Scotland
  • Evidence of understanding of the government structures and the policy environment in Scotland and experience of delivering measurable change through influencing of stakeholders
  • Effective team-working skills and the ability to work effectively across multiple teams in a professional environment
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly and persuasively to a range of stakeholders both verbally and in writing
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with evidence of the ability effectively collaborate with key internal and external senior stakeholders to deliver on outcomes
  • Evidence of developing effective partnerships and joint working initiatives with a wide range of sectors
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills
  • Experience of using a range of technology including CRM, CMS, social media, electronic newsletters and Office
  • The ability to work without close supervision and to prioritise work effectively
  • Willingness to travel and stay away overnight
