Full-Time Policy Officer

Job Description

Starting salary – £41,510 rising to £43,695 after 12 months plus attractive benefits package

This role will be office based (Haywards Heath) with the flexibility to regularly work from home; due to current Covid-19 situation all our employees are working from home.

Job summary

The postholder will work with the Director of Policy and Senior Policy Advisers to support the delivery of the Associations’ policy objectives in relation to education policy and professional issues.

You will work with colleagues and NAHT officials to implement policy positions agreed by National Conference, National Executive and National Officers. Taking strategic and operational direction from the Director of Policy, you will build strong relationships with stakeholders to support this work. Supported by the Director of Policy, you will lead on a number of specific policy areas for the association.

The successful candidate will be required to prepare and present reports, briefings, and draft responses to government consultations on issues within policy areas.

Person specification

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who has experience in drafting briefings and/or reports and can present complex information to a range of audiences, both verbally and in writing.

Good knowledge and understanding of current education policy and practice is essential.

Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to establish credibility with internal and external stakeholders is also essential for this role.
