Plant Engineering Manager – Portland, OR
 
Arclin USA is currently seeking talent for a Plant Engineering Manager job in our Portland, OR location. Reporting to the Plant Manager, This position is responsible for specifications and design of plant facilities, controls and equipment for the Arclin Production Facilities that will achieve the desired result in the most cost efficient manner while enhancing the environment, safety, quality, and long-term profitability of the facility.
Plant Engineering Manager Job Responsibilities:
  • The Plant Engineering Manager is the owner and accountable for all plant assets; responsible for controlling, tracking and reporting spending of the capital budget and the maintenance
  • Function as a project manager for capital projects
  • Communicates with internal and external customers to ensure project plans and work in progress will meet desired outcomes
  • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards
  • Direct supervises all resources in the maintenance
  • Analyzes and plans maintenance work force utilization, predictive/preventative maintenance, space requirements, workflow, and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
  • Provide technical advice on plant operations and improvements. Prepares engineering analysis of projects that includes preliminary design, detailed design, project cost analysis, life cycle cost analysis and equipment selection
  • Develop, evaluate and improve the manufacturing controls and automation utilizing knowledge of instrumentation, controls & automation, product design, materials, chemicals, and production equipment capabilities.
  • Leverage engineering controls to eliminate ergonomic
  • Leverage engineering controls to institutionalize consistencies in production
Plant Engineering Manager Requirements:
  • B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering
  • 5+ years plant maintenance/engineering/project engineering experience in chemical or paper manufacturing
  • Exposure to Programmable Logic Control, Distributive Process Controls Systems (DeltaV), HMI and Automation control systems
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated record of leadership, teamwork, adaptability, innovation and initiative
  • Ability to work well with all levels of personnel throughout the facility and the company
  • Experience in executing pillars of total productive maintenance (TPM)
  • Engineer in Training Certification or PE

 

Preferred:

  • Experience in 6 Sigma, Lean, 5S
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer
  • plant maintenance/engineering/project engineering experience in chemical or paper manufacturing
  • Experience in PSM program implementation
  • Knowledge in AB RS Logix 5/500/5000, Control Logix, Powerflex drive, HMI/SCADA, I-Fix, ParcView and DeltaV Batch
  • Ability to operate safely in a manufacturing environment; this may include, but is not limited to potentially lifting up to 20 lbs, standing for extended periods of time bending, crouching, stooping, rotating, climbing stairs, or any combination of the aforementioned, etc

Bachelors or better in Chemical Engineering or related field.

Bachelors or better in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Experience

Preferred

5-10 years: 5-10+ years of plant maintenance/engineering/project engineering experience.
