Planning Specialist – 26090

We’re seeking a highly motivated Planning Specialist to join our National Office Sustainable Places team.
We influence planning, housing and local government issues. We promote environmental sustainability, climate resilience and adaptability. We encourage resource efficiency for business and communities. We enable others to manage pollution and flooding risks.
You will work on a variety of high-profile planning and environmental issues.
You will liaise with Government on planning policy and legislation to enhance our environmental interests and ensure that the best outcomes for people and wildlife are achieved.
You will work with our internal teams to provide briefings, training and guidance when there are changes to planning policy and legislation.
We need a highly motivated, enthusiastic person to take on these challenges and deliver positive outcomes for the environment.

We manage key relationships across central government and their agencies on infrastructure and growth. Our cross-cutting role requires interactions with a range of internal teams.
Our team is based around England and largely works as a dispersed national team.
Location is flexible, working in both EA offices and at home. Travel to meetings will be required where there is a business need.
You will have an environmental or planning degree and/or significant relevant experience.
You will be able to demonstrate the following:
● Knowledge of the UK planning system and relevant legislation
● Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
● Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills
● An ability to work flexibly responding to competing demands
● A proven ability to achieve results and proactively identify and solve problems
● A sound customer focus
It would be helpful, but not essential, if you had:
● Membership or demonstration of progression towards membership of a relevant professional body such as the Royal Town Planning Institute.
You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment. Full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
