Internship Pinyon Jay Monitoring Assistant
Job Description
Become a Pinyon Jay monitoring assistant and work with the Bureau of Land Management in collaboration with the Utah Conservation Corps. Survey pinyon jay occupancy and behavior in plots within the BLM-VFO boundaries in accordance with VFO protocol. These protocols will provide information to assess population densities and locate breeding habitat. This information will help inform habitat treatments as well as USFWS listing considerations under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). Additionally, this position will assist with Rangeland Health monitoring in each of the following allotments: Island Park, Ruple Cabin and McCoy Flats. Inventory for special status plant species in support of the John Wesley Powell National Conservation Area. Additionally, individuals will assist with other monitoring efforts including but not limited to sage-grouse and white-tailed prairie dogs. The selected individuals will also assist with habitat improvement projects as needed.
