This is an exciting opportunity to work in an dynamic curriculum area. We deliver UAL Awarding Body Qualifications which enable students with an interest in Performing Arts to explore, develop and test their creativity in a demanding and stimulating environment, across various pathways.

We are looking for an exceptional Performing Arts Lecturer, with experience teaching singing and acting, to join our dynamic and passionate team, and lead our high-performing courses. At Abingdon & Witney College we focus on “triple threat” skills: acting; singing; and dancing. Students come to us with a strength in at least one of those areas, and an understanding that they will be encouraged to develop holistically.

The courses are 100% coursework assessed, with additional English and maths, which is delivered through both practical and theory elements, with a huge emphasis on working towards shows. Students and staff are expected to work flexibly to accommodate the intense nature of putting on these high-quality productions.

The ideal candidate would have creative vision and feel confident in directing productions, liaising with the team, as well as planning and facilitating contextual research. We operate as a theatre company, generating income from ticket sales to invest back into our shows. Our students and staff benefit from a purpose-built double dance studio, and we have budgeted to use external professional theatres for our shows.

We require an experienced teacher/practitioner who is confident in planning, preparing and delivering lessons, and assessing qualifications. We offer excellent training opportunities and skills development through our Teaching Skills Academy and training programmes.

As this is a maternity cover post, there may be further opportunities arising within the team, which you could also be considered for at a later date.

Please note whilst all teaching hours are within normal working hours, the candidate will be required at certain times in the year to work evenings for shows.

Although a teaching qualification is an advantage, training opportunities exist within the College and we can support you in gaining your Award in Education and Training Level 3 Qualification (AET), within your first year of joining the college.

In return, Abingdon & Witney College offer excellent benefits to our employees including generous pension and holiday schemes (with potential Christmas closure days), continued professional development, flexible working options, corporate gym membership, cycle/tech scheme and much more.

Closing date: 12th June 2023 (midnight)

Interview date: 20th June 2023

No candidate will meet every single desired qualification / criteria. If your experience looks a little different from what we’ve identified and you think you can bring value to the role, we’d love to learn more about you!

AWC values diversity and encourages applications from all sections of the community. We are committed to safeguarding and expect all our employees and volunteers to share this commitment. We are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and all appointments are subject to satisfactory clearances including enhanced DBS checks.
