As FlyWire continues to expand, we are excited to bring on a People & Business Operations Manager who is a strategic doer that can enable key aspects of our team and operations, lead a variety of strategic projects, and take ownership of results at a sustainability startup. You will provide critical support to leadership through implementation of best practices for people operations, develop tools to be successful at work and champion the implementation of programs, inspire change towards a culturally positive work environment, as well as align teams, set goals, implement initiatives, and improve processes. You will be joining as one of the core team members in building FlyWire for our next phase of growth and impact!
Primary Roles & Responsibilities:
People & Culture (~60%)
- Attract, Recruit, and Onboard a Diverse Set of Candidates – collaborate with leadership to develop hiring plans, create equitable hiring processes, and effectively onboard candidates.
- People Operations & Leadership Culture Building – direct organization-wide programs and services to support the achievement of FlyWire’s mission and business strategies.
- Business Administration & Compliance – plan, monitor and implement policies, processes, trainings, initiatives, and surveys to guide FlyWire’s compliance and strategy needs, including potential development and reporting of operations/business metrics.
Business Operations (~40%)
- Strategic Partner Outreach – work with the executive team to develop and implement outreach initiatives to support engagement with stakeholders.
- Strategic Customer Service Support – co-develop systems and methodologies to consistently offer customers outstanding experiences (technical support, communications, engagement).
- Hardware Production – enable effective purchasing, receiving, and inventory management.
- General Office & IT Management – create and apply processes and initiatives to manage FlyWire’s office operations and IT security needs, including staying updated on related laws, regulations, and best practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, People & Culture, Business Administration, Business Operations, and/or related field
- Minimum of 3 years of People or Business Operations experience with a keen desire to enable organizations
- Ability to coach, influence and develop effective working relationships with employees at all levels through collaboration, transparency, and integrity
- Strong EQ and understanding of people, diversity, and culture
- Knowledge, understanding and ability to stay relevant on employment laws and regulations
- High level of personal and professional integrity and trustworthiness
- Excellent time management skills with a proven track record to meet deadlines
- Effective communication, presentation, analytical and quantitative skills
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Experience communicating and coordinating with cross-functional teams
- US work authorization
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Human Resources or Business Management
- SHRM or PHR certified
- Previous experience in a startup environment
Commitment & Consideration:
- Full-time position with the option to be hybrid in-person and remote, with expectation to be in the office at least 2 days per week in Lexington, KY, USA. Salary based on experience.
