ActionAid UK is a member of the ActionAid Federation, an international charity that works with women and girls living in poverty. As part of the ActionAid Federation, we work with women and girls, our partners, and dedicated staff in 43 countries to end violence and fight poverty so that all women, everywhere, can create the future they want.
ActionAid UK has created a People and Culture Manager role to business partner with senior managers on people strategic and operation issues. You will provide expert people advice, have the ability to influence, support and coach line managers to enable them to achieve their strategic objectives and build a high performance team and culture.
The People and Culture Manager role is pivotal to enabling the People and Culture team build the desired culture, capacity and capability within the organisation. You will do this by developing, driving and aligning the people initiatives to our strategic priorities and by embedding our feminist principles into our ways of working.
You will develop and manage a small team to ensure they have the knowledge, skills and confidence to enable and support managers. You will also contribute as a senior member of the People & Culture team to our strategic objectives through leading on agreed projects and policy development at an exciting time in the organisations transformation and growth.
To succeed, you’ll need to be a CIPD Member level 5 or have equivalent experience at this level. You will need to have knowledge and in-depth experience of delivering and leading culture change programmes, as well as great knowledge of employment legislation and best practice.
Your experience and understanding of the importance of leadership and project management to help drive and deliver on strategic people initiatives is essential. You’ll be able to translate this knowledge into solution-focused advice to managers and your team members. You’ll also be confident with excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be able to quickly establish professional credibility with senior stakeholders across the organisation.

ActionAid UK has a hybrid working policy for many of our roles. The requirement will vary from team to team and the responsibilities of individual roles. As a minimum, all colleagues are expected to attend the office 12 days per year, plus additional time for induction, training, and “Company Connection days.” Some roles may require in-office attendance on all days and if so, these will clearly be marked as in-office roles. Please note that ActionAid UK does not offer fully remote working options. We encourage you to discuss hybrid working expectations at interview.
