Full-Time Patient Pathway Coordinator / Medical Receptionist

Job Description

Context:

 

The New Foscote Hospital has been successfully established in Banbury for almost 40 years and has provided services and treatments to thousands of people from across the region during this time. We have over 50 consultants, all of whom are leaders in their specialist fields and choose to hold their private practices here, working alongside our friendly, highly qualified and experienced nursing and support teams. We have recently investigated the need for a new position to support the Patient Pathway team in the administration of new patients.

 

Role Purpose:

 

To provide office-based communicative and administrative support to the Patient Pathways Department, and also answering calls, assisting with booking outpatient appointments and theatre bookings and supporting reception.

 

Core Responsibilities:

 

  • Providing excellence in customer care & service
  • General Patient Pathways Administration

 

Main Duties and Key Accountabilities:

 

  • To play a pivotal role within the Patient Pathways Department and to work in close liaison with patients and their families, external professionals, multi-disciplinary colleagues and internal colleagues.
  • To ensure that the outpatient slots are published in a timely and efficient manner.
  • To receive and process GP referrals with care and attention to detail
  • To organise the medical notes for new patients
  • To process funding applications efficiently and accurately
  • To process patients attending theatre
  • Provide support for all clinical typing
  • Support the Patient Pathways Department with departmental administration
  • Full training will be given on all aspects of the role
  • To assist and support the Patient Pathways Manager with any additional departmental work
  • Actively participate in quality assurance programmes

 

In addition:

 

  • Be accountable for own standards of work
  • Respect and maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Attend appropriate training sessions to improve standard of practice.
  • Attend all mandatory training sessions.
  • Adhere to the hospital policies, procedures and standards.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings.
  • Maintain courteous and professional relationships with all colleagues, visitors and consultants.
  • Promote effective communication within all department areas.
  • Support colleagues and work co-operatively to promote good team morale.
  • Perform any other duties as required and deemed competent to do so.
  • Actively work to maintain the standards set by The Care Quality Commission.
