Partner Primary Schools Officer – FTC (12 months)

 

The Purpose:       

Manchester United Foundation believes every young person should feel empowered to achieve their goals and uses the power of football and Manchester United to support young people to make positive choices in their lives.  Due to the success of the work the Foundation do, we are currently growing our team.

The main purpose of the role is to contribute to the delivery of the Manchester United Foundation flagship primary school’s programme. The key focus will be to co-ordinate and deliver high quality PE and school sport within schools with a focus on up-skilling and mentoring school teaching and support staff.

The post holder will deliver high quality physical literacy programs which meet the needs of the school and Manchester United Foundation. These programs will have a particular focus on impacting the behaviours and attitudes of the school and also the opportunities for personal development of staff and pupils.

The Role:

Leadership and Strategy

  • To create a fun, enjoyable and inclusive learning environment that is inspiring, dynamic, challenging, and educational.
  • To create and develop session/lesson plans that will increasingly challenge and enhance skills, shape a positive attitude, and foster a confident approach to meeting the objectives of each programme.
  • To develop and manage effective working relationships with key stakeholders including school sport partnerships and funders.
  • Work with the Primary Schools Co-ordinator and recognised school representatives to manage, monitor, evaluate and innovate the service level agreement objectives to ensure they remain relevant, unique and aligned to the strategic vision of the Foundation and the partner primary schools.
  • To contribute to the strategic planning of and lead the operational delivery of Foundation events and programmes within the partner primary schools.
  • To undertake personal development as and when required by Manchester United Foundation and the club.
  • Ensure that the Foundation’s code of conduct is upheld in all activities, delivery, and physical appearance.
  • To develop and maintain a positive relationship with allocated partner primary schools, act as Manchester United Foundation’s key contact in that school.

Management and Operations

  • To work with the Primary Schools Co-ordinator to ensure the partnerships are satisfying all required monitoring and evaluation requirements.
  • As directed by the senior Primary School management team, maintain registers, collect all relevant data, information and evidence of good practice to support funding conditions and for the formulation of case studies.
  • Uphold and promote the Foundation’s Safeguarding policy and that of the partner primary schools working in conjunction with both Manchester United FC’s Safeguarding team and the school’s safeguarding lead.
  • Work with the senior Primary School management team to coordinate and facilitate external events to support objectives and in the fostering of a team ethos within the Primary Schools department.
  • Complete risk assessments to ensure a safe and healthy working environment at all times in accordance with Manchester United Foundation and Manchester United Football Club’s policies.
  • To support the senior Primary Schools management and other divisions in the delivery of football/sports tournaments and enrichment events.
  • Maintain FA coaches license and other qualifications where applicable.
  • Any other reasonable duty as may be assigned that is consistent with the purpose of the role and its level of responsibility, including the ability to work flexible hours and travel.

The Person:

  • Demonstration of academic achievement in secondary and/or further education.
  • Strong functional skills in Mathematics and English
  • A full and clean UK driving licence (or recognised equivalent)
  • FA Level 2 in coaching football and relevant support qualifications
  • FA First Aid Qualification
  • FA Safeguarding Children Qualification
  • To want to make a positive difference to young people’s lives.
  • Hard working, enthusiastic and reliable.
  • People Skills (Self-assured, build rapport, empathise with others, emotionally intelligent, approachable.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills (written, verbal and listening).
  • Experience of scoping, delivering, and evaluating a range of education and physical activity programmes.
  • Understanding of Safeguarding best practice.
  • Ability to engage with a range of stakeholders to achieve strategic and contractual objectives.

Desirable

  • NGB Level 2 coaching qualification in a sport other than football
  • Qualified teachers’ status
