Part-Time Part-time Instruction & Classroom Support Technician 2 – Tutoring Center

Job Description

Clark College is currently accepting applications for two part-time, permanent classified cyclic, Instruction & Classroom Support Technician 2 positions to work approximately 17 hours a week Monday-Friday while classes are in session (summer, fall, winter and spring). These positions support the Tutoring Center.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Tutor Clark College students in specified courses with emphasis on content as well as general study/organization/test-taking/goal-setting skills and techniques.
  • Participate in or complete Level 1 CRLA tutor training (online and/or in person).
  • Participate in staff meetings.
  • Ability to converse knowledgeably/fluently in the subject matter and/or language.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES:

Candidates will be evaluated based on application materials, including the supplemental questions and personal interview(s), and will be required to demonstrate competencies in the following areas:

  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Recommendation from a Clark College faculty member for tutoring college-level course(s).
  • One (1) year of relevant tutoring or teaching experience.

 

JOB READINESS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to use effective questioning techniques to assist students in understanding course content.
  • Ability to work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to assist in individual and group tutoring.
  • The initial appointment will include a 6-month probationary period and the employee will earn permanent status after successfully completing probation.
  • This position is represented by Washington Public Employees Association.
  • Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant’s suitability and competence to perform in the position.

 

SALARY RANGE: $21.26 – $28.55/hour | Step A-M | Range: 44 | Code: 255N

Successful candidates typically start at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases.
