Full-Time Parks Services and Open Space Manager
Job Description
Under general direction, the Parks Services and Open Space Manager implements programs for management, licensing, and activation of Port’s parks, open spaces, promenade, and other public realm locations. The person in this position will interface with a variety of Port Divisions, Port’s security contractor, Port’s assigned SFPD officers, partner organizations, partner agencies (RPD, SFMTA, BCDC) and members of the public. This employee will use and assist in implementing and abiding by Port’s Park Code, Port’s internal park manual, Port’s Waterfront Plan, Port’s Race Equity Action Plan, and BCDC permit requirements impacting use of parks and open space.
The essential functions of this position include:
- Day-to-day management and inspection of Port property parks, open space and public realm locations including inspecting spaces.
- Prepares work orders requests for Port’s Maintenance Division.
- Responds to requests for use of space, drafting and finalizing property agreements including licenses and, special use permits.
- Generates development and implementation of activation concepts.
- Identifies partners for activation.
- Works with existing and future partners on parks activation, volunteer park clean ups and other activities.
- Manages Port’s Public Art Program.
- Implements management of Port’s sidewalk vending and street performer’s programs.
- Develops policy and/or systems improvements Port’s parks and open spaces.
- Performs other functions related to management of parks and open space.
- Presents and responds to Port Citizen Advisory Committee meetings.
- Develops and manages the social media/marketing strategy for Port’s parks and open space.
- Creates and maintains webpage for parks to include Port’s special events calendar.
- May require working evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
