Full-Time Parks and Grounds Superintendent
Job Description
The Town of Fuquay-Varina is seeking applicants for the position of Parks & Grounds Superintendent. This position works under the general supervision of the Parks and Recreation Director and Assistant Director.
Primary Duties:
- Supervising the parks maintenance department,
- Determining the priority of work and ensuring workplace safety.
- Responsible for all horticultural activities associated with the department including turf management, landscaping, and pesticide application.
- Expected to forecast for future facility maintenance needs, and to assist in overseeing facility construction I renovations.
- Work requires public contact in answering complaints, resolving problems, and handling requests for service.
- Subject to hazards in park maintenance work including working in both inside and outside environments, in extreme hot and cold weather, and exposure to various hazards such as noise, moving mechanical parts, chemicals, atmospheric conditions and oils.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in park administration, horticulture, or a closely related field.
- Three years of increasingly responsible professional administrative experience in parks and facility management in a supervisory capacity.
- Microsoft Office software proficiency.
- Possession of an appropriate driver’s license valid in the State of North Carolina.
- Possession of a valid North Carolina Pesticide License preferred.
- Possession of Certified Playground Safety Inspector preferred.
