Full-Time Park Supervisor
Job Description
Responsible for overall operation the City of Douglasville Park complex, which includes a city park, park amenities and recreational facility operations. The person in this position reports to the Parks and Recreation Director.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates the daily operations of a Park Complex which includes a city park, park amenities and recreational facility operations;
- Plans, evaluates and coordinates recreation activities, including scheduling facilities, ensuring facilities are set up, and scheduling trips
- Monitors the day-to-day operations of recreation activities, including making site visits, handling and resolving complaints and ensuring that programs and events have required materials and supplies;
- Creates program flyers, brochures, catalogs and newsletters; assists Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation with putting recreation information on television and website;
- Communicates daily with the staff team, plans work schedules and checks client requirements;
- Deals with customer complaints, comments and inquiries;
- Ensures all events run smoothly;
- Manages budgets and financial plans;
- Assists with recruiting park staff recruitment, training, organization and monitoring;
- Negotiates and manages contracts with external service providers and suppliers as required;
- Purchases equipment necessary for the City Park Complex and Recreational Facility;
- Ensures compliance with health and safety, and other City ordinances;
- Manages day-to-day troubleshooting and addresses problems as they arise;
- Performs other related duties as required.
Salary Range: $50,031.49 To 80,054.83 Annually
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation and Parks Administration or closely related field and (3) to (5) years of experience in managing a recreation facility and park operations; or an equivalent combination of education experience.
CPRP/CPRE Certification preferred.
Must obtain CPR and First Aid Certifications within three (3) months of employment, to be provided by the City.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of the City’s Personnel Policies and Procedures
- Knowledge of the methods and techniques of managing a park, community center and related facilities;
- Knowledge of business management practices and procedures;
- Knowledge of contracts and other agreements as related to the rental of the community center;
- Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to public assembly facilities, public safety rules and regulations, and building regulations;
- Knowledge of modern principles, practices and techniques of personnel management and training;
- Ability to effectively supervise and coordinate City parks staff and processes;
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; read, interpret and enforce legally binding contracts; interpret laws and implement accordingly;
- Ability to use discretion and exercise sound judgment;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Financial Responsibilities: Accept, receive, and/or collect payments; prepare and/or process purchase orders; accountable for inventory/property management; make recommendations that impact the budget; manage the budget within assigned unit/division; and manage the budget within assigned department.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is sedentary work and requires hearing, mental acuity, speaking, talking, visual acuity, lifting and walking.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Incumbent regularly make decisions that could lead to major community or organizational consequences if there is a failure to make the appropriate decision at the time.
