Full-Time Packaging Mechanic
Job Description
- Performs routine and/or non-routine checks and preventive maintenance tasks established by the Engineering Manager, Maintenance Manager, Team Leader Maintenance and the Maintenance Lead.
- May be required to perform emergency repairs with minimal supervision.
- Keeps documentation up to date.
- Familiar with proper start-up and shut down of packaging equipment
- Performs equipment repair, overhaul, and trouble shooting of equipment; changes and replaces belts, sprockets, bearings, chains, motors, etc.
- Evaluates equipment for performance, performs adjustments, replaces parts, etc. as needed to assure uninterrupted packaging of quality potato products.
- Performs structurally-sound welds and acceptable cutting, using appropriate cutting and welding equipment.
- Follows instructions given in work logs, work orders, and equipment manuals.
- Supports and promotes CPS programs such as 5S and Center lining throughout the plant.
- Must be able to operate a forklift and man lift in a safe manner. Requires plant certification.
- Give direction and training to lower bracketed mechanics as needed.
- Communicates and works with other associates and salaried personnel in a positive manner
