Outdoor Program Staff General Duties: Outdoor Program On-Call staff lead year-round weekend programs and trips across the state for Girl Scouts of Colorado (GSCO).
This position is responsible for facilitating activities including outdoor adventure sports, environmental education, and camp games and programs. This position is responsible for delivering high quality outdoor adventure programs that highlight high adventure, technical skill development, and leadership opportunities Girl Scout members.
This position will support the Outdoor Adventure Club program, Troop Camps & Programs, and support other special events as needed. The scope of work is varied and includes the following program models: full weekend overnight camps, day only programs, teen outdoor adventure programs, and special events. Programs and trips occur at various locations across the state, generally at Girl Scout owned properties along the Front Range with camping trips and mountain travel in the summer.
This position offers a very flexible schedule depending on staff availability. Staff self-select programs they are available for on a quarterly basis and schedules are determined at least four weeks before each event. The work schedule could include entire weekend (Friday through Sunday) programs, some weekday evenings, and some weekdays. Anticipate one to two weekends of work per month and/or up to two weekdays or weekday evenings depending on time of year.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Documented training, experience or certification that demonstrates a history of working with youth, preferably in an outdoor setting.
- Current or willing to obtain any of the following certifications: CPR/First Aid, Archery, USA Level 1 instructor, American Canoe Association Paddle Sports Facilitator, Wilderness First Aid.
- Ability to design, implement and facilitate activities in specialized program areas.
- Ability to teach children in an informal outdoor setting.
- Ability to maintain safety and risk management standards.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to changing situations.
- Ability to pass all required background checks as required by GSCO.
- This role requires a non-restricted driver’s license, active car insurance, active vehicle registration, and reliable transportation that may require bringing equipment and supplies to programs sites.
- Must be fluent in speaking, reading, & writing English
- Bilingual and bicultural abilities are a plus!
- Must be 18+
- Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and walk up to five miles in a day on uneven terrain and dirt roads.
Salary: This position pays $18.50 per hour. May pay more per hour dependent on certification(s) held.
