Full-Time Operations Manager

Job Description

Everytown for Gun Safety, the nation’s largest gun violence prevention advocacy group, is seeking an Operations Manager for Government Affairs.  The Operations Manager will collaborate with the Special Advisor, Senior Vice President, and Coordinator for Government Affairs to manage all aspects of Government Affairs’ operations by:

  • Creating and executing systems and processes for federal, state, and local campaigns and priorities.
  • Project managing multi-faceted and cross departmental internal and external projects, support bill tracking and manage bill tracking systems, assist with vendor contracts and relationships.
  • Assist directors and hiring managers with hiring as-needed. Develop and manage the government affairs internship program, serving as their direct supervisor.
  • Overseeing special projects and other duties as assigned.

The Operations Manager will play an integral role in communicating ongoing government affairs work and priorities internally and externally by:

  • Collaborating with the Special Advisor to prepare talking points and memos for members of the government affairs team and the Senior Vice President for internal and external events, including panels, conferences, and webinars.
  • Developing presentations, create agendas, manage logistical aspects and manage content development for internal and external events, including large-scale public events, internal meetings, and team retreats.
  • Lead, manage, and execute Everytown government affairs webinars.
  • Assist with social media, newsletters, and weekly updates.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience
  • 3+ years experience in administrative, operations, communications, event planning or related fields within political campaigns, on Capitol Hill, or non-profit and advocacy organizations
  • Experience working in government affairs and/or working for elected officials
  • Basic proficiency in Google Suite and the ability to quickly learn new systems
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to carry out multiple projects concurrently and prioritize work effectively by making and meeting team goals
  • Excellent communication and time management skills, with attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to be flexible in a fast paced environment
  • Understand how stereotypes, bias, and forms of racism in America (including structural racism, implicit bias, gender bias, religious bias, ageism, and bias based on gender identity or sexual orientation) impact our society, with an expectation that you will develop an ability to articulate the connection between these large societal issues and the disproportionate impact of gun violence on specific demographic groups in America
  • Understand how dynamics of power, voice, and privilege impact one-on-one and group interactions, and a commitment to using power, voice, and privilege to make our movement more equitable
  • Sense of humor is a must
  • Travel required

The annual salary range for this position is $80,000-$90,000. Everytown offers a generous benefits package including Medical, Dental and Vision benefits, PTO, 401K Match, Education Assistance and more.
