Primary Purpose
The Operations and Engineering Manager for Electric Regional Operations manages the district technical support team members and Electric Troubleshooters. This team supports Construction & Operations Centers with the engineering, compliance management program, reliability assessments and improvement projects, oversight of electric troubleshooters, planners and operations assistants. Responsible for development and presentation of reliability and operational improvements on the Electric Distribution System. This role has responsibility for Storm operations at the district level; initiating and conducting debriefs with appropriate departments to discuss outage restoration process improvements and/or clarification. Provides training related to Distribution Operations equipment and procedures, and provides onsite engineering support. Requires 24/7 availability due to outage and storm event response and communication.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Acts as the front-line manager of district electric troublemen, engineers and compliance team. Manages and establishes ETS’s schedules, time and SLA’s in response to electric outages, system disturbances, radio frequency concerns, and transmission switching efforts. Designated Champion for safety culture at all times by leading safety meetings, conducting field visits, constant employee interactions and providing constructive feedback. Manages district support and response for ERO during Red Flag Warning and storm events. Ensure adherence to company Electric Standard Practices and all fire mitigation efforts.
- Reliability: Directs coordination and schedule of projects with construction departments, engineering departments, and related personnel within the company. Directs outage review and analysis for forced outages including executive reliability reporting for high SAIDI outages. Manages mitigation teams for both voltage and customer issues utilizing engineering teams involving various tools and data collection processes.
- Directs compliance of the Corrective Maintenance Program (CMP) to ensure all CPUC General Order requirements are met. Manages and supports internal and external CPUC audits of SDG&E Corrective Maintenance Programs. Directs the completion of all associated follow-up to outages including reliability analysis, damage reporting, follow-up with claims and/or CMG to support the Electric Safety Citation Program. Manages incident related fact findings and subsequent action item completions.
- Manage ERO engineering budgets, as well as various cost center budgets, to ensure financial targets and accurate charging are attained.
- Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree electrical engineering, or other similar engineering degree such as civil or mechanical.
- Professional engineer in the state of California.
- 5 years – Professional engineering experience.
- 3 years – Experience in a manager or lead capacity is desired.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 years – Experience in an engineering operating environment, with at least 1 year as an Engineer with field experience at a C&O Center.
