Summary:

Sr. IT Systems Engineer is responsible for monitoring, installation, configuration, administration, troubleshooting and maintenance of Red Hat OpenShift cluster. IT Systems Engineers provide technical support, troubleshoot problem and perform scripting/programming to ensure stable and efficient operation of OpenShift environment.
Essential functions:

  • Performs installation, monitoring, testing, configuration, migration, maintenance and troubleshooting of OpenShift Cluster.
  • Experience in OpenShift 4.x cluster Administration
  • Experience in OpenShift Cluster backup and Recovery.
  • Experience in ACM and Client is a plus
  • Ensures that the technologies are updated with current, stable, and compliant architecture and applications that meet enterprise standards
  • Expert-level Experience with Kubernetes networking & troubleshooting (DNS, load balancers, service IPs, node ports, etc.)
  • Proactively monitors and reports performance and utilization of assigned technologies
  • Log management & monitoring using Splunk, fluentd, HEC, etc. in an OpenShift environment
  • Maintaining the health & optimal state for OpenShift clusters
  • Manages problem or escalated tickets and tasks and out of cycle requests from systems/software owners
  • Performing OpenShift cluster upgrades as needed
  • Assists with developing tactical strategies, processes and procedures related to systems/application administration
  • Architecting OpenShift as needed to meet application requirements (compute, storage, networking, and operations)
  • Mid-level expertise with OpenShift, Dockers, Containers (Minimum 5+ years hands-on)
  • Experience with testing and deployment pipelines, and experience using Ansible, Jenkins for CI/CD
  • May provide input into infrastructure architecture designs
  • Automation and scipting
  • May participate in Disaster Recovery planning and exercises
  • Ensures execution and alignment to architectural standards and blueprints.
  • May contribute input to infrastructure architecture
  • Performs on-call activities as needed for the environment and technologies

Requirements:

  • Extensive working knowledge of Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes Platform.
  • Competent working in one or more environments highly integrated with an operating system.
  • Extensive experience implementing and administering/managing technical solutions in major, large-scale system implementations
  • High critical thinking skills to evaluate alternatives and present solutions that are consistent with business objectives and strategy.
  • Ability to manage tasks independently and take ownership of responsibilities
  • Ability to learn from mistakes and apply constructive feedback to improve performance
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly and articulately
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
  • Experience using Agile methodology

Required Experience:

  • 2-5 years of related work experience in OpenShift

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or relevant work experience

Certifications:

  • Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration required
  • Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Development is preferred
