Part-Time On-Call Leadership Giving Coordinator

Overview

Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine is seeking an On-Call Coordinator of Leadership Giving within the Office of Development and Alumni Relations. The Coordinator will identify, cultivate, solicit and steward leadership gifts of $1,000 to $25,000 in annual unrestricted operating support for WMed. Donor prospects will include community members, business leaders, civic leaders, alumni, parents and employees of WMed. The Coordinator will plan and implement all activities of the Dean’s Circle Leadership Giving Program.

The Coordinator will identify and initiate contact with new and recurring donors to solicit and steward leadership gifts for support of the mission of WMed. Will set annual goals for a number of donors and gift revenue to be achieved by the leadership giving program. Prepares a listing of the top 100, top 50 and top 25 individual and regional businesses that have the potential to become leadership gift donors. Meets with recurring and new donor prospects to solicit and secure leadership gifts. The Coordinator will on average meet with 15 to 20 donor prospects each month. Also will document all outreach activities with prospects within the WMed Salesforce database system.

Will plan and implement the Dean’s Circle events to connect with leadership annual fund donors, the Dean of the Medical School and other members of the medical school’s senior leadership team.  These events will include one-on-one meetings, small group breakfast, lunch and dinners, virtual events, and other types of engagement events.

Responsibilities

  • Take an initial portfolio of donor prospects and build the number of $1,000 donors and revenue from the Dean’s Circle Program on a year-over-year basis.
  • On a weekly basis initiate telephone, e-mail and in-person contacts with leadership gift prospects to connect them with WMed.
  • Meet weekly with donor prospects to solicit leadership gifts.
  • Prepare periodic electronic and mailed communication with Dean’s Circle members.
  • Use the Salesforce database system to record all contacts with donor prospects.
  • On a monthly basis record all solicitations, meetings and events of the leadership giving program.
  • Prepare stewardship reports and activities to recognize leadership gift donors for their financial support of WMed.
  • Organize and implement tours of WMed facilities to inform, education and engage new prospective donors.
  • Recruit Dean’s Circle donors to host events to engage potential new prospects.
  • Train donor volunteers to conduct peer solicitations for leadership gifts.
  • Prepare monthly reports on outcomes of the Dean’s Circle Program.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • One year of related non-profit, marketing, or business related experience.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Strong in-person, telephone and small group presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Prior experience in establishing relationships with donors and business organizations a plus.
  • Prior experience using database systems, especially Salesforce, are preferred.
  • Prior experience in soliciting gifts of $1,000 or more preferred.
  • Experience in writing brochures, electronic newsletters and other types of promotional writing a plus.
  • Experience with web and social media marketing a plus.
