Duties and Responsibilities
The Office Specialist for Teacher Education is the face of the department, helping students and faculty in person, over the phone, and via email. This position will offer the opportunity for growth in a fast-paced, rewarding environment, influencing the creation of the teachers of the future.
- Provide clerical support to deans, chairs, directors, faculty, and staff, specifically in support of the Teacher Education program.
- Respond to all email and phone calls in a timely manner while providing a professional customer service.
- Monitor and maintain departmental budgets, including the preparation and tracking of purchase requisitions and monitoring expenditures, and coordinate arrangements for travel.
- Retrieve data for reports, assist with tracking data, perform research and retrieval of records, and conduct statistical comparisons of information.
- Assist students with advising and registration when necessary and contact them concerning class cancellations.
- Assist with the placement of Teacher Education students in non-teaching field experiences, classroom observations, early teacher experiences and the teaching internship and act as a liaison between stakeholders in the organization of this process.
- Prepare and proof official correspondence, memoranda, minutes, presentations, charts, and other documents.
- Assist in the facilitation of faculty as well as provide coverage and support for department activities and events.
- Maintain database of community partners, professional organizations, Florida college system, and university admissions offices.
- Actively recruit teacher education candidates.
- Complete annual mandatory compliance training and additional training requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- High School and two (2) to four (4) years of relevant work experience required.
- Detail oriented and able to multi-task effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, One Drive, and SharePoint) required.
- Excellent teamwork and customer service skills.
- High-functioning leadership, planning, and organization experience.
- Pro-activeness and willingness to take initiative.
- Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Associate degree or higher preferred.
- Microsoft Access or other database experience preferred.
- Work experience in a higher education setting preferred.
