Full-Time Network Operations Tech I
Job Description

What you will do to contribute to the company’s success
- Assist with Install, maintain, test and repairs all Network Operations related equipment voice, video and data, utilizing the latest test equipment and hand tools necessary to perform the job under the direction of Network Operations senior staff.
- Interprets and implements Network Operations related service orders, work orders and trouble report by communicating effectively with other departments; including but not limited to man/machine interfacing, installation and relocation of equipment, verification of completion of work order.
- Works with other departments to identify and resolve issues anywhere on the network up to the customer premise.
- Demonstrates knowledge of telephony, digital applications, color code.
- Ensure that all Network Operations related locations are maintained to Hargray standards.
- Maintains and replaces Physical Equipment.
- Tests and may assist other department in running jumpers on main distribution frame.
- Loads, configures and tests all software and network connections necessary for the operation of the equipment listed above under direction of Senior level Network Operations staff.
- Supports monitoring and access capabilities for all equipment used by the Network Operations Center, reacts to alarms as required.
- Ensures the vehicles, tools and equipment are properly used and kept in good working order; completes the necessary paperwork to request maintenance or repairs.
- Submits personal time report, gas tickets, material charge outs, as well as other clerical forms or other required paperwork.
- Maintains all Network Operations work areas in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Documents and test all new system components to establish a baseline for future testing.
- Performs intrusive testing and repairs at times which cause the least inconvenience to customers.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure effective operation of the network.
Qualifications
- High school graduate.
- 1-3 years of direct experience
- Must have knowledge of basic electronics theory/practice.
- Must have a basic understanding of electronics theory/practice.
- Working knowledge of computers and communication hardware/software.
- Ability to use multiple and various test equipment.
- Reads, understands, interprets, and applies written instructions, such as equipment manuals, in operation and troubleshooting of network operations systems.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with a history of safe driving record.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
- Must be willing to travel to various Hargray related locations
- Must be able to work various schedules extended hours, include overnight assignments.
- Strong written and oral communication skills required.
Additional Qualifications Desired:
- Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting electronic equipment.
- Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting DC power plants.
- Experience in Telecom or related field.
- Working Knowledge of digital switching equipment including but not limited to Genband C20 and CIM VM Systems.
- Understanding of optical transport systems and multiplexers.
- Understand circuit design and functionality.
- Associate degree in Electronics or related field.
- Basic UNIX/LiNUX knowledge.
- Cisco – DNCS and Set top Boxes
- Arris/Comscope – DAC6000 and related CA equipment
- Arris/Comscope – CMTS C4 and E6000, CMM/Flex VOD
- Arris/Comscope and Cisco Edge Modulation Equipment
- MediaKind Media Room Platform
